The theme of a report, “the mouth as a mirror of health or disease,” suggests that a wealth of information can be derived by simply examining the mouth and surrounding oral tissues. This is a report that was created for the Surgeon General, and encompassed all of North America.
According to the Surgeon General’s findings, most adults show signs of periodontal or gingival disease. My question is why? Definitely, what we eat has an impact on our overall health and particularly our oral cavity. However, personally speaking, I’m a brusher and flosser and I have always been cavity prone. It didn’t make sense to me that I would have pockets, and plaque build up when I would floss regularly, sometimes 3x a day.
Being an entrepreneur, single, and a typical small business owner, means paying cash for my dental procedures. So I started to get cleanings every 3 months in order to try to avoid the $1000 procedures that were mentioned whenever I went in for a cleaning. I remember once my hygienist accused me of not flossing. I told her she got that wrong and she argued with me saying that she could tell I if I was or wasn’t.
Well, let me say that I did not understand what a really clean mouth (teeth and gums) felt like until I started using bodyFood Dental. (formerly oneDrop dental)
Some people say it’s like Buckley’s for the teeth, but it isn’t that bad. It just takes getting used to because there are no sweeteners in it. However, let me tell you that it does the trick! Every day, you will find that your teeth are squeaky clean and you can feel when plaque starts to build up. It really is amazing and I’ve cut my dental cleaning in half… saving myself $360 / year … and who knows how much in dental procedures! Never mind the pain and agony associated with dental work and the healing process.
